Our Training Commitment
We deliver excellent training, tailored flexibly to the individual needs and interests of our members. We equip individuals with the intellectual and technical skills that are needed for the future of translational research, and complement this with key transferable skills to ensure individuals emerge as well-rounded scientists, prepared for the next stages of their careers.
It’s important that our training and support is driven by our workforce to help ensure that we’re equipping our trainees with the relevant knowledge and skills to benefit their career progression.
Our trainees feed into a working group to advise and steer our researcher development opportunities. Providing these opportunities fosters an environment where everyone feels included, heard, and valued, with opportunities equitable for all.
Our training provision covers a wide range of topics tailored to our members individual needs, to include, but not limited to those outlined below. This is complemented by an annual trainees away day that builds upon these more regular events, providing an opportunity for everyone to learn and network in a more informal setting.
- Health inequalities and Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity in research
- Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement
- Data science (managing large datasets, coding and artificial intelligence)
- Clinical study recruitment
- Research dissemination via outreach and engagement
- Entrepreneurship and commercial collaborations
- Media training and creative communication
- Exposure to a clinical working environment
- Ethical reviews in translational research
- Grant writing
