Millie is a post-doctoral researcher focussing on biomarkers and genomics of dementia. She graduated from her BSc in Medical Sciences before embarking on her PhD which surrounds the characterisation of dementia models, using novel spatial transcriptomic technology, bulk RNA sequencing, and electrophysiology.

Millie’s work now focusses on the analysis of extracellular vesicles as biomarkers of dementia. She hopes to determine whether extracellular vesicles may be used to discriminated between forms of dementia (specifically Alzheimer’s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies), and between individuals with dementia and cognitively normal controls – thus validating said vesicles as a diagnostic tool for dementia.

Millie is working directly with geriatric doctors and patient clinics within the Royal Devon & Exeter (RD&E) hospital to coordinate her work and ensure that patients are at the forefront of what she does.
