Professor Adilia Warris, Professor at the University of Exeter and Co-Director of the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology, academic career development and training strategy lead at the NIHR Exeter BRC, and consultant in paediatric infectious diseases in Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, is one of 65 new Fellows elected to the American Academy of Microbiology, Class of 2025.
Fellows of the Academy, the honorific leadership group within the American Society for Microbiology, are elected annually through a highly selective, peer-review process based on their records of scientific achievement and original contributions that have advanced microbiology.
The Academy has over 2,600 fellows representing all subspecialties of the microbial sciences and who are involved in basic and apaplied research, teaching, public health, industry and government service. This year, the Academy received 146 nominations for fellowship from across the globe. The 65 newly elected fellows hail from 9 countries, including Australia, Denmark, Mexico, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Switzerland, the U.K. and the U.S..
