After graduating from the University of Exeter with a BSc in Biological Sciences, Emily worked as a laboratory technician where she developed her interest in biomedical research. She joined the BRC as a PhD student in September 2024. The aim of her project is to investigate the effects of genetic risk variants associated with late onset Alzheimer’s disease (LOAD) on microglia to contribute to better understanding of the role of microglia and risk variants in LOAD. She plans to characterise dysfunction in iPSC based microglial models through analysis of their function, structure, and gene expression.
